BIOGRAPHY
My background has been in teaching Art, first at Secondary Schools and later, after 2 children, and upgrading my qualifications, at Tertiary level for 35 years.
I have pursued a serious study of Sculpture and Painting from my late 30's onwards, after travelling to Europe on study leave in 1982 and again in 2002 and 2010. I have also travelled to Canada, New Zealand, South Africa and around Australia studying both Contemporary Art and Indigenous Ar.t This has fired my own personal sculpture journey.
I am inspired by nature in both my subject matter and the media I use, looking to make sculpture that is timeless, durable and with a visual and spiritual harmony.

I like to explore different media and techniques, such as carving, using wood, limestone, pilbara jade and alabaster,. I also use construction techniques with oxy welded sheet steel and rods, model clay and wax. Each process requires a different thinking and gives an added challenge and keeps me focused and continually developing, which I hope to do for some years to come. I also paint, using watercolor, often combining it with pen and ink. I also experiment with mono printing and mixed media.
Other interests include running, cycling, walking, collecting, playing cards, gem stones and travel.
